Welcome Message

Last November, when Covid-19 threatened the entire humanity, the World Health Organization(WHO) warned us that antimicrobial resistance would grow into a much bigger threat to humanity. Against this backdrop, calls for enhanced collaboration among international organizations and countries across the globe to contain and manage antimicrobial resistance has been growing.

The Republic of Korea has taken the lead in promoting international cooperation as the Chair of the Ad Hoc Codex Intergovernmental Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance(TFAMR) since 2017 after it successfully held the 1st to 4th sessions of TFAMR during its first term. In the 8th session of TFAMR, scheduled to be held in October, the Republic of Korea is expected to accomplish its mission of establishing the two guidelines on AMR.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea would like to take this Conference as an opportunity to have a discussion on AMR and strengthen international collaboration. This Conference will serve as an important platform for representatives from countries and international organizations including WHO, FAO and OIE to share ideas on key agendas including the current status and management of AMR, how to boost international cooperation and new research results. I would like to kindly ask for your enthusiastic support and participation to this conference to better prepare ourselves against and respond to foodborne AMR beyond Covid-19.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the Republic of Korea
